"This Magazine is dedicated to those who wish to study the Bible from an independent viewpoint. It is written for those who believe that the Bible is true and the only true teacher. It is believed that the Bible interprets itself if one pays attention to the context. Also, since the Bible was not written in English, it is felt necessary to refer to the original languages, so that one is not misled by incorrect translations.
This magazine is dedicated to the work of making the Bible sensible, practical, and realistic to thinking people. Specifically this means taking it out of the realm of so-called "religion" and putting it into perspective as reality.
The method of study is the same as with any other subject. It is felt there is not divine inspiration today, so no knowledge is possible outside of practical study, and this means using the tools of study: the dictionaries, encyclopedias, and history books connected with the subject, and used in conjunction with the Bible. So-called "spiritual" knowledge is not recognized.
This magazine is dedicated to showing basically how the Bible applies to us today. Many statements and portions apply to other people in other times and it is vital to distinguish what applies to us. It is this failure to distinguish, that is the root of the differences in those various groups claiming to believe the Bible."
I would also like to quote from another issue:
The ideal striven for in this study paper is to explain the Bible in terms simple and clear enough so that a person who has never picked one up can understand these articles and learn about the Bible, even though it deals with the so-called "deep" things of that book.
It is believed that the Bible is intended for the common man of every nation and so must be simple. Those who make it seem complex are not presenting it correctly. Everything seems complex when we never heard of it before, but when we understand the parts, the whole becomes clear.
